A nanny is a person who is employed by a family to take care of children or a older person or a person with special medical requirements.

Just like parents, a nanny keeps children safe and healthy and gives them special attention when they are not well. Nannies also plan activities that help the children to grow strong , learn and develop.

The typical duties of nanny are, feeding, bathing, and dressing the children, reading to them, playing with them. A nanny need to really love children, to be patient with them, and to have an active imagination. Children need to be constantly stimulated and they love to play, so the more creative and energetic you are, the better.

 Nannies must handle the part of a parent when the parents are not with children.
They must have a good judgment skill and able to make quick decisions.
They should be patient and to be able to care a child (s) for long working hours (8 to 10 hours).
Adjust with the employer family’s rules and routines/ flexible enough to fit with them.
The nanny should respect the way that the parents want their children raised, according to their belief or philosophy. This is especially important in choosing books and entertainment for children and in dealing with a child who is misbehaving.
Nannies should be good at time management and organized well.
Nanny may be forced to change the pre-planned chart because it is not always go accordingly with children.

A nanny works at the employer’s home (on either a Live-in or Live-out basis)

The duty time is normally 8 hours in a day and 40 hours in a week. However the nanny can do over time duty.

  • The candidate must be 18 years or above age

A person who

  • Has completed plus 2
  • Has done Nanny course ( from a reputed institute)
  • Has a minimum one year work experience in related field
The work experience can be before or after the nanny course. It is not necessary to have one year work experience after the course, course can be done anytime. But you may be required to do the course if you are not working in the related filed for 3 years after completing the nanny course..
  • Is able to do the nanny duties, including house management  and cooking
  • Is First aid and CPR trained
  • Has secured IELTS general training with at least 5 band score
